07. Kestrel: Barnsley Fantastical Beasts - inside Barnsley Market. The town’s most famous bird of prey – the title star of Barry Hines best selling book A Kestrel for a Knave and Ken Loach classic 1969 film Kes. This is one of nine willow sculptures, all folklore creatures associated with the town, on a Barnsley Council organised family fun trail to encourage more visitors and spending back in the re-opened town centre. It runs during half-term, May 29 to June 13, part of Twisted, the Barnsley Festival Of Natural Art.
